USPS Going Broke!

Which post offices in Philadelphia, PA are shutting down? How could this effect families in our neighborhoods?

Look at google news information on the USPS shutting down. What did you find? How do you feel about this? Do you think that when you are an adult there will be a USPS?

  2. As I looked at the website i noticed that they said the same thing in the article. They said that 3 postal offices are now closing in Philadelphia because of the Internet. They are also loosing money due to the internet and people are barely coming to their offices. I feel a little upset and shamed because a lot of people would be loosing their job and who's going to deliver my mail now.? No one we would probably have to go and pick it up. No, if they close all the postal offices now i don't think their would be any postal offices when i grow up. Their would most likely be new technology. Also, email would probably be out of style to. That is what i think about this situation and why,...

  3. There are a lot of postal offices closing down especially around my neighborhood. This can affect some families around my neighborhood because some parents have children who are in jail or far away and they wouldn't have any way to contact them because the postal offices are closing down. On google I hadf found a lot of towns here in the U.S. I feel as though that the citizens of the United States should start writing letters to people instead of being on the computer. I think that when I am an adult there won't be a USPS because they are dying out and by time I hit age 16 there is going to be something else new in style, so that is what I think.

One of the post offices closed were at white plains, Ny. They all would have to use the internet now. I found out that ten of those places are shut down thanks to the internet.I think that it is sad to shut down these things, they have lots of history in them, but I am not going to work for them.

  6. I think this will effect the families in our neighborhoods. Here is why i think it will change. If the post offices get sut down then that mean more people will have to buy computers to send emails to relatives. Also, they will have to buy phones and spend more money. I found that 3 postal offices are closing due to the internet and they are loosing more customers. I don't feel anything because it doesnt bother me. No, if they close all of them now what makes you think they will be up when i get older?

  7. Why are the governments closing down postal offices? This is what I think. I think that they are shutting down U.S postal’s because they are not getting a lot of money to keep the postal offices open so why keep them open. The one;s that are making money are not shutting down and the one’s that are shutting down is making money that can keep them open. So if you think that your town postal offices is getting ready to shut down then I think that you will start getting a hard time finding another postal offices around your way. For an example, The U.S. Postal Service will accept public comments through May 17 on its plan to shutter the post office on Windward Circle. The operations would be consolidated in the nearby postal annex on Grand Avenue. The post office contains a mural depicting Venice founder Abbot Kinney that was covered and forgotten for many years. The USPS plans to sell the 28,000-square-foot building once the relocation is complete.

The post office in Philadelphia that I saw closing down was the Wissinoming post office. People that live around there said that it was a huge mistake because in 2005, the train around there shut down as well. I think it would affect the families down there because a lot of people like to take walks down there and now they can’t because of them closing the post office down.

The info that I found on the United States Postal Service is that there is a debate going on about if they should close it down or not. I found this info on a FOX44 website. They think that closing there stuff down will not bring the community together like they are now. I feel like them taking away postal services is kind of surprising because one of our formal president started this and I think taking this away is like taking a tradition away from us.

I think that when I am an adult that these postal services will not be there because I think that they are going to create more technology so they would have something called a email post services meaning you go to the store and pay for your email and then email it there. I would like to have the USPS around but you never know because of all the technology going around. That is the research I found and how I feel.

  9. I found a lot. First, I found out that a lot of post offices were closing down. I saw list of the ones that are closing down. I also found out why they are closing down. Knowing this makes me sad. I think that this isn't right or fair. I believe this because when they close down people lose jobs. When people lose jobs they don't have money. They also can't get a good job because we are in recession. That is what I think.

    Post Offices

Here are the three post offices that have closed recently, 821 Adams Ave., 5916 Torresdale Ave., and 905 N. Broad St. This could affect families because, if the post offices close then people will lose they’re jobs and won’t be able to support themselves or they’re family. Officials said the agency needed to consolidate operations because of huge declines in postal usage as more people communicate and pay bills online. I feel that they shouldn’t all the post offices; that they should leave some here because; a lot of people still send letters everyday. When I get older I will never become a USPS person.

  12. A postal office that was shut down is the one on 821 Adams Avenue 19124. This could affect familys who are not wealthy and do not have transportation to mail something important. It could also affect familys who do not have the time to mail somewere out of there way. What I found out was that USPS lost $8.5 billion in the the year 2010.I also found out that only 19 percent of the 32,000 post offices cover their costs. I feel that this is not fair to many people who use USPS.I think that there will be no more USPS when I am an adult because everything might be upgraded.

The Post Offices are shutting down. Let’s fix this problem.

I looked online and I saw a few post offices that were shutting down. This is going to effect a lot of people. I say this because people who don’t have a car and really need to go to the post office and they don’t have any car fair than it is going to be a problem because they are going to have to walk a long way. I think that it is not a good idea, I mean yes we email but not everyone has a computer. I can see if there were like 3 post offices in the same neighborhood and then they could cut down on them but not if they are far some people still go to the post office. I think that this is not a good idea because For Example, my computer broke and I wasn’t getting one for 1 month or 2 and I had to mail something and didn’t have a car. I would have to walk a long way. Finally , these are my thoughts and what I found.
At the bottom these are the post offices that closed on April 22, 2011

    1. 821 Adams Ave.,
    2. 5916 Torresdale Ave.,
    3. 905 N. Broad St.

It will affect families in our neighborhoods they are going to be out of work. Then they will not get no money and they will not be able to go and to the stores and buy stuff. Also they will not be able to pay for they house and bills and stuff. So then they will become poor and is going to become poor people.

When I looked on WWW. Google new.com I said “Why is USPS shutting down”? And they information I got is that the US Postal Service is closing because of what they are calling an "extraordinary decline" in mail volume. I really don’t care about this problem because it has nothing to do this my family. And also I really don’t care about this problem because nun of my family member work at a post office so I’m cool about all of this and this problem.

When I get older I already know that I’m not going to be a USPS because I already know that I’m going to be a nurse. Or I’m going to be a doctor so some thing. I’m not going to be some thing where I really don’t get pay that much. And some where were I get a little bit of money.

I think this will effect the nieghborhood.I think so because some people have jobs there and when they close these people will be out of jobs. Also some people need to send out invtion to party and stuff and not everyone has an email.I found out that millions of people are going to lose there jobs and they aren't too happy about that.No I think that they will not have mail when I get older the world changes and we just have to go on with it too.

    Post offices closing

There were 3 post offices that closed down in April. And here they are,
    821 Adams Ave.
    5916 Torresdale Ave.
    905 Broad St.
This could affect the families in this neighborhood because they would have to go out of there way just to get to a post office. Also because we you drive you need gas. But to get gas you need money. So after doing this the person would be broke. That’s how closing these post offices would affect families in the neighborhood. I found this by going on www.gooogle.com. This didn’t make me feel any type of way because my mom doesn’t go to the post office. But when I am an adult I don’t think there will be a USPS. These are the things I think and why. Thanks for reading.

    Postal services

Here are three post offices that are closed. Adams Avenue (821 Adams Avenue 19124), Girard Avenue (905 N. Broad Street 19123), and Wissinoming (5916 Torresdale Ave 19135). This will affect many of families in these areas. I say this because some people don’t have internet and they need to go to a postal service to send things. If they closed down all of the postal services it will be hard for people that don’t have access to internet. In conclusion those are the tree postal offices that are closing and how this will affect families that live in the neighborhood.
This is how I feel about this situation I feel that they shouldn’t close these post offices because some people don’t want to go mail things. I think that people that use internet too much should stop because they are putting other peoples jobs in jeopardy. Yes, I do think that there will be a USPS I grow up.

    Postal
    Problem

There are three post offices that are closed are located in Adams Avenue (821 Adams Avenue 19124), Girard Avenue (905 N. Broad Street 19123), - Wissinoming (5916 Torresdale Ave 19135). It can affect people because what if they have no car and the post office is walking distance from your house and don’t have a computer how can you get some to another person or to your job. I found out that they are closing because not a lot of people are not going to the post office because of internet and most people are using that. I feel like they should make website for some of the post offices so they can have more money and mail coming in.

  20. I found three USPS that are shutting and they are in Adams Avenue, Girard Avenue, and Wissinoming. It makes me think that it could affect families because that means that those who work in the USPS are going to lose their jobs. I really feel sad for them and hope they will find another because I don’t think their will be more USPS in the future because wants the point in having them if people have cell phones, iPods, iPads, and computers that let people chat and video chat with others.

  21. Some post offices that are scheduled for closing is ……
    • New Hartford
    • Hanlontwon and more. This could affect people because with less offices longer time for mail and late notice for things. What I found on the internet is that people are really steamed about this and people are going to lose there jobs and now they have to looking for a new one and some people went through it and did not like it. I honestly think that this is a bad idea and if I went through this I would not like it. When I grow up I do not think that there is going to be a usps.

Handle town. I think that it’s not right because some people from other countries can’t get letters and things from us because their some things and people don’t have money and people have to use post offices and people that work there they need money for working and if they shut them down there’s no way for them to get mail. Prison people have family that wants to get in touch with them but they can’t if they shut down half of the world post offices.

    Postal Problem

Here are four offices that are closing.
    1.) 1401 John F Kennedy Blvd # 930, Philadelphia - (215) 580-7800
    2.) 2001 East Willard Street, Philadelphia - (215) 739-8286
    3.) 4350 North Front Street, Philadelphia - (215) 329-8147
    4.) 925 Dickinson Street, Philadelphia (215) 462-1248

This could affect families by them not having the money to pay for the bills and for the food they would have to eat everyday. Then, they would wonder why when they go bankrupt why they are living on the streets and don’t have a home because the post office was the job that supported the house and that is what kept it on it’s two feet.

As I looked on Google news I found the same thing that scholastic news had said,” Post offices are going bankrupt because people are communicating with email and not by writing.

I think that here will not be any more USPS by the time I am an adult. I think that because if they are already getting rid of half of the 32,000 pot offices what makes you think that there will be any here by the time I am a grown-up and Mr.Wildes is about 40 years old. That is why I think that there will be no post offices when we are grownups.
